'Rogue One' Story Details: Mads Mikkelsen Not A 'Bad Guy'; New Breed Of Stormtroopers Coming

The next "Star Wars" movie is not arriving until the end of this year, but as famous film franchises go, nothing is stopping fans from looking for every bit of information they can get about their favorite film franchise and its next installment. While Disney is keeping the story of spin-off film "Rogue One" under wraps, numerous leaks and round-ups about every tidbit about the film and its characters have already started circulating the Internet.

What is officially known so far about the film is its setting in the timeline of "Star Wars." According to a Tech Times report, the film happens before the events of "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope." Its story also focuses on a team of rebels who are tasked to steal the Death Star plans so that the rebellion can get ahead of the Empire. Darth Vader, the report said, will be part of the film's story.

The film is helmed by Gareth Edwards, who is also known for his work in "Godzilla." Among the confirmed cast members so far are Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk and Riz Ahmed.

Unlike other "Star Wars" films, "Rogue One" will have no Jedi knights who will serve as the film's heroes. The characters in focus are the rebels and, as its director describes it, he calls it a war movie and compares it with other war movies.

More recently, Mads Mikkelsen gave out some hints about his role in the film. While Mikkelsen is known for his iconic roles as a bad guy in other films, he describes his character in the film as "actually not a bad guy," according to a report in Cinema Blend. The Tech Times report cited another rumor that Felicity Jones' character may be related to Mikkelsen's character as she is trying to seek redemption for what her family did for the Empire.

Another rumor that has come out is the presence of a different kind of Stormtroopers in the film, ones who are wearing black uniforms and are reportedly called the Death Squad Stormtroopers.

With Disney keeping mum about the story details, fans will just have to wait until an official trailer comes out sometime before the film's release date on December 16, 2016.
