Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather Fight 2015 News, Preview: Ronda Rousey Rooting for Pacquiao
MMA fighter, Ronda Rousey has chosen sides in the Floyd Mayweather, Jr. – Manny Pacquiao Fight on May 2, and she's betting on the Filipino boxer.
Mixed martial arts number one female, Ronda Rousey has unanimously chosen the boxer to cheer for at the May 2 Las Vegas superfight between undefeated American, Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and pound-for-pound number three ranked fighter, Manny Pacquiao.
Rousey says she's cheering for the Filipino underdog.
"Pacquiao's been very, very nice me, so I'm going to root for him," the 28-year-old UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion said in an interview with TMZ.
Earlier in January, Pacquiao sent a message to the mixed martial arts fighter via Instagram video, wishing her luck in her fight against Cat Zingano at the UFC 184 scheduled Saturday at the Los Angeles Staples Center.
"So humbling to hear such kind words from a legend like @emmanuelpacquiao," Rousey said of the Filipino boxer in the Instagram video she shared with her followers.
Rousey, herself a boxing fan, has admitted her eagerness to watch the Mayweather-Pacquiao megafight on the Cinco de Mayo weekend at the MGM Grand. According to the 2008 Olympic Judo medalist, the intensity of the upcoming event has spurred her motivation to win her UFC 184 bout with Cat Zingano, the number three ranked fighter.
She said she now has a bigger drive to win her match with Zingano to make the money needed to afford to see the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight, the lowest priced ticket of which is reported to cost $4,175, according to a TiqIQ.com listing.
Mayweather and Pacquiao are scheduled to go head on head in what is touted to be boxing history's richest fight, with a $250 million purse and a 60/40 division in favor of the American boxer.
Mayweather has an unbeaten 47-0 win record while the Filipino fighter has a total of 57 wins and five losses.
