Ronda Rousey vs. Holly Holm fight preview: Holm 'happy' to be underestimated by Rousey
UFC women's bantamweight title challenger Holly Holm does not mind being underestimated by champion Ronda Rousey.
During her UFC 193 pre-fight media scrum at the Glendale Fighting Club this past week, Rousey spoke about what she thought about her upcoming challenger. Unlike when she fought Correia, "Rowdy" was more cordial speaking about Holm, but had the same confident tone.
"She's the kind of person where after I beat her and she makes a lot of money, I'm like, 'Good for her. Buy yourself a Albuquerque house with that,'" Rousey said, speaking about Holm. The last chick, it was like, she's a big old bitch, I kicked her ass, she made a lot of money and I'm like, 'Oh well, whatever. Have fun with that.'"
"With Holly, I'll genuinely be happy for her and hope that she accepts her loss in a healthy way and enjoys all the benefits that she got from this fight," she added.
Holm's mixed martial arts resumé may not be as impressive as Rousey's (9-0, with six victories by knockout), but she does hold a significant professional boxing experience. "The Preacher's Daughter" held a 33-9-3 win-loss slate, with nine victories by knockout.
That being said, Holm promises that she will be ready with whatever Rousey may throw at her, adding she will not be making the same mistakes others have made in the past.
"A fight is unpredictable," Holm said, in a report by MMA Fightning. "That's why people love to watch fights. You don't know what's going to happen. So, I want to go in with kind of an open-ended plan and be able to adjust along the way."
Since entering the UFC in February, Holly Holm has won two of her fights by decision: the first one at UFC 184 against Raquel Pennington where she won by split decision, and in July against Marion Reneau, where she won by unanimous decision.
She is currently ranked number seven at the UFC's women's bantamweight rankings.
