'Rookie Blue' Season 5 Spoilers: Andy and Sam Together? Couple 'Still Has Big Issues to Work Through,' Star Reveals

"Rookie Blue" is a hit with fans, and this past week a big reveal came from Sam as he worked with former flame Andy. But, Missy Peregrym, said in an interview, there is still plenty more to be revealed as the two work together and possibly re-establish a relationship.

Sam finally told Andy that he had a troubled history with his father, which brought the two together in a new way.

"She needed to see him actually let her in, in a real way," Peregrym told TVLine. "And because he did that, she was willing to try, willing to put herself in the position to be vulnerable with him."

And what will Sam's revelation have on his relationship with Andy?

The focus "isn't about anybody else," Peregrym explained. "It really isn't. It's about how they can work together to be the best they can be. It had to come to this point where we needed to make a change. Otherwise, there was no point in getting back together. So I was really excited to do this scene. I was happy that we were going there."

Of course, one step forward often leads to two steps back, and Peregrym promised that "there are some things that come up that are pretty big. The theme of this season is, 'Life is not a fairy tale.' And it's not. It's not the fairy tale we think it should be. This is more realistic, and the whole season is a lot of people who are going through some very grounding circumstances and situations that are pretty humbling, and it's so hard."

And as for Andy's relationship with her trainee, Duncan?

"They have to work together," Peregrym said, "but she doesn't train him anymore. She's done with him."

"Rookie Blue" explores the personal and professional lives of police officers. It started in Canada but quickly gathered a loyal following here in the United States. The show airs Thursday nights on CBS.
