Every year the parade takes with a different theme, and for 2013 it will be "Oh the Places You'll Go!"
Leading the parade for 2013 as the Grand Marshall will be Dr. Jane Goodall, who is the founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and a United Nations Messenger of Peace.
She has said, "I am honored to be the Grand Marshal for the 2013 Tournament of Roses. New Year's day symbolizes the opportunity to work toward new goals, experience new beginnings, and make a difference."
She added, "My dream for this New Year's Day is for everyone to think of the places we can all go if we work together to make our world a better place. Every journey starts with a step and I am pleased to see the Tournament of Roses continue to take steps toward not only celebrating beauty and imagination, but also a cleaner environment."
The route begins with the parade formation at Green Street and Orange Grove Boulevard, south of Colorado Boulevard.
The parade organizers predict that 700,000 people typically line the streets to watch the parade every year.

The Southern California Public Radio is also offering helpful tips for people attending the event for food, parking and seating.
The 2012 parade was watched by approximately 39 million people on TV, and this year is expected to attract as many. This year's parade will be broadcasted live on ABC, Hallmark Channel, HGTV, KTLA (Tribune), NBC, RFD-TV and Univision. Viewers can also watch online through free live stream provided by KTLA here.
Wisconsin and Stanford are set to compete in the 99th Rose Bowl game at 2:10 p.m. PT (5.10 p.m. ET).
