The Rose Parade 2016 will start at 8 a.m. PT (11 a.m. ET) live from Pasadena, California, and will be a spectacular festival of flowers, music and sports
The theme of this year's event will be "Find Your Adventure", and is a theme that was born out of a partnership between the Pasadena Tournament of Roses and the U.S. National Park Service. This 2016 event will highlight the centennial celebrations for the United States' national parks.
The Grand Marshal for the 2016 Rose Parade will be award-winning filmmaker Ken Burns.
Burns has had a nearly 40-year career creating documentary films and has won 14 Emmy Awards, two Grammy Awards and two Oscar nominations.
Tournament of Roses President, Mike Matthiessen, has said, "Ken Burns is a legendary figure and a great fit for this year's Rose Parade theme, 'Find Your Adventure'.
He added, "We're so honored to have someone like Ken, who has devoted his life to telling the story of America, lead the Rose Parade – America's New Year Celebration – that provides hope and joy to millions of people around the world."
Meanwhile, Burns himself has said, "The Rose Parade is an annual tradition woven into the fabric of America, so it's such an honor to be chosen as the Grand Marshal. I've never been to the Parade in person, so this will be a new adventure for me. I'm looking forward to sharing the experience with my family and all the fans of the Rose Parade who will be watching on New Year's Day."
The Rose Parade has a start time of 11 a.m. ET (8 a.m. PT) and will take place for approximately two hours.
The parade route this year will see the floats travel from the corner of Green Street and Orange Grove Boulevard in Pasadena. They will progress eastwards on Colorado Boulevard, and later will turn north onto Sierra Madre Boulevard, before the climax at Villa Street.
The event will also include numerous marching bands and attractions that will ensure the event is perfect for all the family.
The Rose Bowl Game will of course take place later in the day and this year will be contested between Stanford and Iowa. That football game will be available to watch on TV on ESPN from 5 p.m. ET (2 p.m. PT).
