Rosehearty Yacht Being Sold by Rupert Murdoch for $29.7 Million
The Rosehearty yacht, Rupert Murdoch's personal sailing luxury boat, is being put on sale by the media mogul for a hefty $29.7 million. Although the billionaire's fortune is by no means decreasing, apparently a lack of use is the reason Murdoch has put up the large yacht for sale.
The Rosehearty yacht, which was used by Murdoch's family, was listed by Camper & Nicholsons International for $29.7 million. The boat is of the Perini Navi 56m series and created by French designer Christian Liaigre to be the lap of luxury.
"Throughout her living areas, a neutral colour palette is used again pale oak woods and Hermes leather furnishings to create a truly luxurious feel," the listing reads. "The formal dining area showcases a more intimate atmosphere with a dark wood table and chairs, soft lighting and warm red seating."
The 184-foot yacht also is very spacious, with room for 12 guests in six cabins, two VIP suites and a 10-person crew. The mast goes up to 193 feet and the Rosehearty has a sail area of 16,792 square feet.
Guests can also be entertained by a variety of things on the boat, like water skis, a wakeboard, diving gear and a Jacuzzi. For activities besides water sports, there's fully-equipped wi-fi internet and numerous plasma TVs.
Despite the 82-year-old News Corp mogul selling his yacht just months after his divorce from 44-year-old Wendi Deng Murdoch, he is far from hurting financially.
"Rupert works all the time," one broker told CNBC. "He loves the boat, he loves to sail, but he doesn't really use it much."
The Australian news mogul filed for divorce from his wife several months ago, with a News Corp. spokeswoman telling The New York Times that the "relationship between husband and wife has broken down irretrievably."
