Rosie O'Donnell to Renovate, Not Rebuild, Honey Boo Boo's Home
Many know that Rosie O'Donnell offered to buy the Thompson family a new home, but Mama June Shannon put a stop to that. The family wants to stay in their own home, even though it needs renovations. Now O'Donnell has offered to take care of those renovations.
"We're in! Are you kidding me? Of course," O'Donnell told People magazine in response to Shannon's request. "They do that 'Extreme Makeover' show-hello! I will call David Zaslav [President and CEO of Discovery Communications] when I get home. I will say [the family is] very into an addition," she added.
"Maybe we can get Home Depot to chip in and we make it the Christmas special: 'Rosie O'Donnell and Honey Boo Boo's Renovation,'" O'Donnell said. Of course, that was before she found out that Honey Boo Boo's family is already slated for their own Christmas special on TLC.
Instead, O'Donnell will have to reschedule her plans for a different TV slot. It's an interesting fascination she has with the family she's never even met. O'Donnell clearly holds them in high regard.
"They're taking a family that is supposed to be perceived as 'less than' and showing them [to have] humanity and value. I don't watch that much TV anymore-some of the shows like the 'Real Housewives,' I never got into that. People are mean to each other. It's not my thing," she explained.
But apparently "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" has not only won over O'Donnell but much of the rest of the nation as well. The show, picked up for a second season and the Christmas special, has captivated the nation. Little 7-year-old Alana (aka Honey Boo Boo) recently appeared on "The Real Housewives" set with her mother for a dinner of their favorite meal…"sketti."
