Royal Trip Abroad Itinerary Released: Plenty of Traditional and Non-Traditional Events for Royals
Prince William and Duchess Kate's trip to Australia and New Zealand is jam-packed with fun, formality, and plenty of family time with baby George. The royal family will head to the two countries in early April and spend the majority of the month abroad.
According to Miguel Head, William's private secretary, the Duke and Duchess will engage in a head-to-head in a yacht race. The couple engaged in a similar activity during their 2011 visit to Canada, where they participated in a traditional dragon boat race.
"They are a little competitive and we expect this to be very enjoyable," Head said during a press conference. "It's a spectacular experience," he added of the jet boat ride they will take across the Shotover River.

The couple will also make visits to their respective charities, including hospitals for sick children and areas important to local Aboriginal people.
"It's something she's always wanted to do," Head said of Kate's first trip to Australia. "She's very excited. The breadth of, and variety of, things they're going to be seeing and the people they're going to be meeting makes her very enthusiastic about the visit. Both of them are very outdoorsy, sporty people."
It will be the first official trip for Prince George, who is expected to make a few appearances throughout the three-week trip. He will be tended to by a new nanny but never be far from his parents, who will spend time with him every night upon returning to "base camp." Everyone is excited to see the little prince, especially given the fact that his father made a similar trip for his first adventure abroad.
"There's no hiding the enthusiasm for this visit by both the Duke and Duchess. The Duke, because he has done this before, and the Duchess because she has never been to either country but has wanted to do so for as long as she can remember," Head concluded.
