'Rush Hour 4' Latest News: Jackie Chan Confirms Script in the Works

LAPD Detective James Carter and Hong Kong Detective Inspector Lee may be reuniting for one more "Rush Hour" movie.

During a radio interview with Power 106 Los Angeles, Jackie Chan revealed that they are looking into making "Rush Hour 4" happen, with a script already in the works.

"For the last seven years, we've been turning down the script, turning down the script. Yesterday, we just agreed," Chan said (via E! Online). "The script probably at the end of this month will have a second draft and next year, [we'll] probably start."

Indeed, it has been 10 years since the last "Rush Hour" film hit U.S. cinemas, and fans are undoubtedly excited to see another buddy cop movie starring the action hero. Of course, Chan revealed that they would only do a fourth film under the condition that Chris Tucker is also on board.

But it looks like they will not have too much trouble trying to convince Tucker to reprise his role. In 2012, Tucker expressed an interest in a sequel and revealed that he wanted to work with Chan again.

"It's not about money. It's about [having the] time to make," Chan continued. "Otherwise, 'Rush Hour 4' we're all old men. I tell Chris Tucker, 'Before we get old, please do 'Rush Hour 4.''"

The first "Rush Hour" film premiered in 1998 and grossed over $244 million worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo. The success of the film spawned two sequels, "Rush Hour 2" in 2001 and "Rush Hour 3" in 2007. "Rush Hour 2" grossed more than $347 million worldwide, while "Rush Hour 3" brought in $258 million.

Apart from his celebrity status in America, Chan is also hugely popular in Hong Kong, where he began his film career. The 63-year-old is known for his skills in martial arts and for doing his own stunts. In 2016, he received an honorary Academy Award for his work in the industry.

For now, fans can catch Chan alongside Pierce Brosnan in "The Foreigner," as he seeks to avenge the unjust death of his daughter.
