At the moment, the Kings are struggling and are below .500 in the season, having difficulty chasing the top two teams in the Pacific Division. They have a relatively comfortable lead over the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers who are at the bottom of the group, but the Kings have a lot of ground to make up.
Meanwhile, the Hawks are momentarily at the top of the Southeast Division but stiff challenges from the Miami Heat, Washington Wizards and the Orlando Magic oftentimes see the lead changing in the group. However, the Hawks have a great team and are currently on a good run to take the lead.
Despite the difference in the records, both teams are blessed with talent as the Hawks have proven players and a tight core with Al Horford leading the way. Paul Millsap, Jeff Teague and Kyle Korver are still in the team and they are still impressive despite dropping down from their performance last year.
Meanwhile, the Kings have DeMarcus Cousins, Rudy Gay and Rajon Rondo who are great in their own right and can perform on any given day.
In fact, when the two teams met, the Hawks won by a close 103-97 margin. It was close throughout, with the teams trading runs in the first half. However, the Hawks lasted longer and had the answers for the most part to get the win.
