Samantha Brick Reveals Secret of Her Self-Confidence and 'Beauty' (PHOTO)

Samantha Brick, the Daily Mail reporter who made headlines with her article stating that she was hated for simply being beautiful, has revealed the "secret" of her beauty. Her father, she says, has provided her with support, and continually tells her how beautiful she is.

"Just in case any of you were inhabiting another universe last week, I am currently recovering after becoming the subject of a very modern, global witch-hunt," Brick boasts in her latest editorial. One may notice that again she is playing the victim card after last week's writing spurred over 4,000 comments on The Daily Mail website, more than any other article in the publication's history.

Users of Twitter and Facebook also commented about Brick's audacity in writing about her beauty. Brick wrote, "One minute I had written a piece about how being beautiful had always caused me difficulties with other women. The next I found myself pilloried and insulted online, on the radio, and on TV shows around the world."

Brick has gone on British television to defend her article: "Women do not like attractive women," she told the hosts of This Morning. "Neither me nor my friends have any problem with beauty, but we do not like arrogance. People mistake self-confidence for arrogance, but it's a fact that women can't stand beautiful women."

"This whole experience has proven my thesis [that] women do not like attractive women," Brick stated. "This is proven by the thousands of vile messages on my personal email account, on Twitter, and on my telephone answering machine."

At this point, host Ruth Langford interrupted Brick and asked her rather pointedly, "Could it not be because you're very attractive, and you believe that we are all jealous and all our husbands fancy you that gives you a certain air of superiority and arrogance?"

Brick had no reply for Langford but now says that her self-confidence, which many view as arrogance, stems from the relationship with her father. "Ever since the day I came into this world, my dad, a retired nurse, has showered me with love and affection," she explains.

"I called him from my home to ask what he thought. As ever, his support was instant and unwavering. First, he reassured me that those lambasting me were 'very sad people with very shallow lives.' Then, unable to understand why I'd become the focus of so much bitterness, he asked: 'Why aren't people directing such anger towards the real problems going on in this country? You've done nothing wrong...treat them with the contempt they deserve,'" Brick said.

"In that instant I felt batter," Brick writes. "And it occurred to me that without my adoring dad I would never have felt able to write the piece - let alone deal with the vicious onslaught that followed."

Daily Mail readers have reacted with harsh criticism of Brick's comments, calling her "delusional" and accusing her of thinking she is God's gift to the world.

"Stop going on about this" writes Daily Mail reader Me. "If you want to forget all the hurtful comments you received, you aren't going the right way about it. If, however, your actual aim is to get publicity (as I suspect it is) continue as you're doing but don't complain when people insult you."
