Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Users Get the Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA Version, More to Follow?

Rumors have it that an OTA or over the air version of the Android 5.0 Lollipop slipped through security and appeared in several phones ahead of time.

The Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is expected to come next year, so some users were most likely surprised to see the update already available for download. That was the case for a Vietnamese user who relayed the story to the Samsung-Viet forums.

The user reportedly saw the Android Lollipop listed among the updates available on the Samsung site and was able to download the early update for his Galaxy Note 3. While the update has been reportedly taken down, the user and a number of other people were still able to get it for their phones.

Despite people's excitement that the new update meant that Google is rolling out the Lollipop early, the update that was reportedly available was not the final version and was among the early builds of the software.

Users even reported problems with the OTA version, claiming that the white background was affecting the phone's battery life due to the pixels and powers needed to light it up.

However, a closer look at the images that have been uploaded about the supposed update seemed to indicate that the entire story was fabricated and created through some Photoshop work.

The Vietnamese user claimed that he was able to get the update before it was taken down and even added a screencap as proof. While it was true that no update can be seen by checking the website, it was noted though that the only thing that seemed to have been changed or updated in the website is the OS Version column. Everything else remained the same while the build number on the screencap did not match the one on the site.

It can't be certain that the story was indeed a hoax or if the user or users are already working the Lollipop OTA.
