Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge Plus Details Leaked Ahead of September Release
New reports have come out ahead of the expected launch of Samsung's next flagship phablet at the IFA Technology Congress in September. And it contained information about the specifications not only for the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, but also for the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.
The report cited a report from SamMobile that was the source of the leaked specifications for both new phones, according to a report in Tech Times.
The next-generation Galaxy Note 5, which will have model number SM-N920 is rumored to have a big screen like its predecessor, at 5.67-inch and will have a 2,560 by 1,440 quad-HD Super AMOLED display. The screen resolution is also the same as the Note 4.
Under the hood, it will be reportedly powered by a 64-bit octa-core Samsung Exynos 7422 processor. No mention about whether there will be a model that will carry a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Color options will be black, silver, gold and white color options. No details on the phablet's cameras and internal storage options were given.
The other phone mentioned, the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, will reportedly be launched at the same time as the Note 5. It is rumored to have the same screen size and screen resolution as the Note 5. The main difference is that its screen will have a dual-edge. Internal storage will be available at 32 GB. Unlike the Note 5, it will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor. Its rear-facing camera will be 16-megapixel with optical image stabilization, while the front-facing camera will be at 5-megapixel. Its battery will be a non-removable one with 3,000 mAh. The phone's OS will be Android Lollipop 5.1.1.
All these specs point to better and more powerful phones, but it is not yet apparent how different a direction Samsung will take with these new phones. They have previously declared that they are taking "a new direction, a direction it for years publicly boasted offered important features Apple's iPhone lineup lacked." The unveiling in September will ultimately show if this is so.
