Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Rumors: Device Codename Revealed, to Arrive Later Than Usual?
It looks like Samsung is not giving up on the Galaxy Note lineup just yet despite last year's fiasco, which affected the company in big ways.
According to a tipster, the South Korean giant is working on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and internally refers to the phablet as "Baikal."
The purported codename for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is also the name of an ancient, massive lake in Siberia. It is considered the deepest lake in the world. It is unclear what the selection of the name means for the phablet though.

There is a lot of pressure for Samsung to make sure the Galaxy Note 8 will be of the highest quality when it sees the light of day.
After all, its predecessor was marred with a battery issue that forced the company to pull out the units from stores, replace the ones that customers have purchased and discontinue it altogether.
This is why Samsung is taking extra caution with its next Note offering, according to IHS Markit principal analyst for mobile electronics, Wayne Lam.
For the uninitiated, Samsung hoped to shorten the gaps between the release dates of its offerings, which is why the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 came out just five months after the Samsung Galaxy S7.
It is believed that the quickened timetable may have caused Samsung to overlook important measures that may have led to the faulty batteries of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
"The [Galaxy Note 7] battery situation has changed that whole culture of let's just be fast," Lam told iDigital Times. He said that Samsung is looking to take its time and to make quality and safety a priority.
"The overall culture has changed to where [Samsung has] to be a little more deliberate," the analyst went on to say.
That being said, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is not expected to arrive anytime soon.
