Samsung Galaxy S6 and Edge Release Date: April 10 Launch, US Carriers Set Up Pre-Order Sign Up

The release of Samsung's next flagship phones, the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the S6 Edge is one of the most awaited smartphone releases of the year. After the company revealed the new phones at the Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona, many consumers are wanting to know when and how they can get a hold of these new devices. Samsung has announced that the phones will be available on April 10.

In the US, Samsung has confirmed that they will be available from these carriers: AT&T, Verizon Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular, Boost Mobile, Cricket, and MetroPCS. In the lead up to its release, carriers have started setting up preorder sign up pages, according to a report in Tech Times. Samsung and some U.S. carriers are anticipating "record preorders" that some carriers already have dedicated registration pages on their websites.

Verizon for instance took to Twitter to make the announcement that they will accept preorders starting April 1. The tweet also leads to a link to their dedicated registration page. Registration however means that users will receive email alerts and notifications about the phones' availability.

AT&T has separate registration pages for each device, where customers "sign up for the latest information" regarding device availability and pricing. To entice customers to register, they also have an ongoing special promotion called Samsung Gear S Sweepstakes where they raffle off one Samsung Gear S wearable per day until March 25.

T-Mobile on the other hand has a sweepstakes until March 26 for those who visit their registration page, with weekly prizes and a grand prize of a $3500 Samsung ecosystem. They have one information registration page for both devices. Sprint also has a dedicated page for potential buyers. US Cellular's pre-registration link however leads to Samsung's preorder registration page.

In another Tech Times report, a rumor is supposedly circulating that both devices will be available "in demo fashion" at Best Buy stores on March 27. Another rumor is whoever preorders from AT&T, Verizon and Sprint are also supposedly receiving "an extra device," details of which have been vague. Some are speculating that this extra device may have to do with wireless charging which is supposedly available for the new smartphones.
