Samsung Galaxy S6 Plus Rumors: Is it Rolling Out in Coming Weeks?
Rumors have been circulating that Samsung will soon be releasing a bigger version of its recent flagship the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, to be called Samsung Galaxy S6 Plus. This is the project codenamed Project Zero 2 within Samsung.
While earlier reports are saying that the new smartphone will be unveiled by Samsung during the September IFA Trade Show in Berlin, the Korean manufacturer may opt to reveal it within the next few weeks, Tech Times stated.
Rumored specifications of the new smartphone include a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor with a whopping 32 GB internal storage and a 5.5-inch or 5.4-inch Super AMOLED dual-edge (not single) curved screen. It is not yet known what its resolution will be.
Camera-wise, it will have a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. According to the report, this model will not have the S pen functionality as earlier rumored. It is also not yet clear if Samsung will release a "tough" and "waterproof version" of the S6 Plus.
In terms of accessories, the new device will reportedly have an accessory Keyboard Cover, which could be a removable keyboard case. Releases of a Clear View and S View case are also reported for the smartphone.
In case these reports are not true, there is still the possibility that Samsung will launch Project Zero 2 and Project Noble in one event at the IFA 2015. Project Noble is the codename for the development of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5. Samsung Mobile president J.K. Shin has denied that Galaxy Note 5 is coming out earlier than September and said that it is on schedule for the IFA announcement.
The Note 5 is set to rival the iPhone 6 Plus. It has an advance Exynos 7422 octa-core processor and S pen functionality. The Exynos 7422 is Samsung's all-in-one solution chip that combines the CPU, GPU, modem, RAM and storage in one. It is reported to have a 4k or 2k Super AMOLED flat screen.
Samsung has remained mum about either the S6 Plus and the Note 5.
