Samsung Galaxy S7 Release Date, Specs Rumors: Could Be Arriving Early 2016
The competition among smartphone brands is heating up once again. With Apple releasing its latest flagships, the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus, to record sales, rumors have started circulating that Samsung may be releasing its next flagship earlier than usual. According to a report in BGR, some reports are coming from South Korea that a Galaxy S7 may already be in the works and may be arriving in early 2016.
The report cited its source as an analyst at SK Securities, which also controls SK Telecom. The analyst said that the Korean company will be ready to reveal the Galaxy S7 in early January 2016, after which it will release the phone in the market within the same month.
The report also speculated that given Samsung's penchant for changing its launch schedules for its flagship devices as evidenced by this year's line-up of devices like the Galaxy S6 series and the new Galaxy Note 5, announcing the Galaxy S7 earlier may just be a possibility. The Galaxy S6 series was introduced earlier to compete with the iPhone 6, while the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge+ was unveiled earlier, before the iPhone 6S hit the market.

Rumors about the S7 specs have also been circulating, including one report that the device will have two models available – one with a flat-screen and another with a dual-edge design.
According to another report in TechRadar, the phone's size may be a bigger 5.7 inches, and that a smaller variant with a 5.2 inch will be also be made. Screen resolution is also rumored to be 4K, although some reports say that it may stick with just a QuadHD screen.
The phone's design may not be that different from the S6 series, but there is a report that it may be built of a different type of metal which may be a magnesium based alloy, which is not only lighter but is also able to regulate the heat generated by the phone.
