Samsung Galaxy S7 rumoured to launch with Marshmallow and 5-day battery
If the rumours are true that the Samsung Galaxy S7 will be the first Samsung device out with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and - more significantly - with a 5-day battery, it would revolutionize mobile communications and also steal a march over its rivals.
The smartphones launched this year have all been replete with new features - faster processing, big screens, super cameras, huge memory, elegant casings, etc. But 'till now, none of the handset manufacturers have come up with a battery that carries on for even two days with normal usage. Any company that brings out a device with a seriously longer lasting battery will have leapt much ahead of its competitors.
Samsung seems to be doing some research on extending battery life and has reportedly spent around $13.8 billion on research and development last year. This investment was justified when in June this year, researchers and scientists at the SAIT - Samsung's Advanced Institute of Technology - found a way to prolong the life of the standard lithium-ion batteries by using the combination of graphene and silicon. If this research is integrated into the handsets soon enough, it is possible for the Samsung Galaxy S7 to be launched with this 5-day battery.
Normally extending the battery capacity to run the numerous apps and features of a device is where most of the handset companies focus on. But this results in the battery having a short life. However, we now have graphene to take care of this. Reportedly, a combination of graphene and silicon can increase the energy density of the batteries by 1.8 times the normal energy. This can translate into longer battery life
According to leaked documents from Samsung, the Galaxy S7 will have the following specs:
Design and display - The S7 will be offered in exotic-sounding colours like Gold Platinum, White Pearl, Silver Titan and Black Sapphire. It might have a 5.5inch Super AMOLED display with 4K resolution.
Inside - It will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and is rumored to come with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. This will be paired with 4GB of RAM and storage will be available in three variants - 32GB, 64GB and 128GB.
Camera - It supposedly has a 30MP rear camera and a 10 megapixel front camera along with a new feature called 'Gigapixel' which allows you to capture clearer images.
With such advanced features, Samsung has made available 5G network support for a faster and better performance.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 will most probably launch in March 2016. Hopefully, the 5-day battery should be in time for it.
