Samsung Galaxy S7 vs Xiaomi Mi5: Rumored Specs, Features, Price, and Release Date
2016 is the year of technology — specifically phones — and two of the most awaited flagships are Samsung's Galaxy S7 and Xiaomi's Mi5.
Due to the developing companies' silence about the features that will come with the smartphones, there are not too many details revealed just yet. On the other hand, fans and tech outlets have a good number of speculations that could possibly helm the upcoming phones.
In terms of display, the Galaxy S7 is rumored to sport two screen sizes. One is said to come at 5.2 inches, while the other sports a more curvy and soft screen at 5.7 inches. The exciting part is that both variants are said to come with the Super AMOLED display that sports a 4K resolution for a more improved user experience.
The Mi5, on the other hand, is rumored to come with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels, supported by an IPS LCD screen. For advanced protection, the screen will also be covered with Corning's Gorilla Glass 4.
Power is a very vital aspect that phone buyers consider and with the Galaxy S7, rumor has it that it will come with the new Snapdragon 820 for China and U.S. consumers. The Mi5 is just behind with the same Qualcomm chipset and an Adreno 530 GPU. However, it will only run on the lower Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, instead of the newest Android Marshmallow treat.
Probably the most appealing feature of the new devices is the camera. Tech experts suggest that the S7 will probably be powered by Sony's IMX300, while the Mi5 will sport a lower-quality camera that only allows for capturing photos with 16-megapixel quality.
Meanwhile, both phones are expected to come sometime in February of 2016 so buyers still have roughly two months to compare and contrast.
When it comes to budget-savers, the Xiaomi Mi5 is best recommended as it is rumored to only come with a $315 tag, while those who just received their 13th month pay can opt for the Galaxy S7 that is said to be priced at around $700.
