Samsung Galaxy S8 News Round-up: Possible Design, Features Based on Previous Leaks
Samsung has yet to confirm the official release date for the Galaxy S8. However, leaks are coming out and they are giving people major hints on what to expect from the design and features of the upcoming smartphone line.
Design: Curved-Edge Display, Home Button, Wider Screen
Most of the leaks which surfaced in the previous weeks agree that Samsung is going to release a standard Galaxy S8 and a bigger S8 Plus. However, unlike the previous S series launches, the two variants will both have curved-edge displays.
Just last week, another leak reportedly surfaced through the Chinese social media site Weibo and was carried over to Twitter by Benjamin Geskin. The leak contained photos assumed to be the display faces for the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. Apart from the curved edges, the photos show what has been earlier speculated and has been mentioned on the previous leaks -- the ultimately slimmer top and bottom bezels for a wider screen that leave no space for the physical home button.
Meanwhile, another earlier leaked render is believed to have revealed the exact dimensions and measurements of the upcoming mobile devices. If accurate, the Galaxy S8 will be 140.14 millimeters in length, 72.20-mm wide and 7.30-mm thick, while the Galaxy S8 Plus will be 152.38 mm in length, 78.51-mm wide and 7.94-mm thick.
Features: Bixby AI, Water and Dust Resistance
Since artificial intelligence technology is starting to rise as a common feature to several electronic devices, Samsung cannot afford to introduce their comeback product without an AI smart assistant.
While Samsung is yet to confirm if their very own AI smart assistant, dubbed as Bixby, will actually be in the Galaxy S8 line, speculations are ripe that it will most likely be launched alongside the smartphone.
In another earlier report, there have been speculations that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will remain using the IP68 water and dust resistance feature. This level of protection allows the mobile device to go undamaged even when submerged in a 1.5 meter-deep water for 30 minutes.
