Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus Release Date and Specs Rumors for 6 GB RAM Variant: Better Galaxy S8 Plus Exclusive to South Korea?
Samsung is offering to its home country South Korea an even more powerful version of the already capable Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus. The company has announced a variant model of the flagship phones with 6 GB of memory and 128 GB of storage. The new variant, however, is only available in South Korea today for preorders.
Samsung is offering a "Special Edition" of the Galaxy S8 Plus in its native market in South Korea, and it's better than the other S8 Plus for sale everywhere else in the world, according to Android Authority. The new Galaxy S8 Plus will come with 6 GB of random-access memory (RAM), 50 percent more than the 4 GB that comes with the regular Galaxy S8 Plus. The special edition also comes with a huge 128 GB of storage on top of that, doubling on the 64 GB of storage available in the version that's going to be available internationally.
Not only does the Korean version of the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus have double the storage of the regular S8 Plus, but the special edition also comes with free gadgets. Buyers of the special edition device will also get to take home a free Samsung DeX docking station, an accessory valued at approximately $140.

Buyers who want to settle for the regular Galaxy S8 Plus will also get a free Level Bluetooth speaker worth $87 if the unit is bought in South Korea.
The special edition Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus will cost about $1,000, or 1,155,000 won according to ET News via Android Authority.
This just goes to show the lengths to which Samsung will go through to ensure that they don't get muscled out of their domestic markets by other companies that have been threatening Samsung's market share. Among the competition will be the new LG G6, which according to reports looks to be selling very well in Korea.
There have also been reports that Samsung will be making the special edition device available to China as well, which could indicate that the company wants to take on the Chinese phone makers, who have 6 GB devices in their catalogs as well.
