Samsung Galaxy S8 Release Rumors: Smartphones to Feature Two Enhanced Accessories, Virtual Assistant Named Bixby

Samsung is gearing up to officially unveil their next smartphone, one that promises to pull the South Korean-based tech company out of the shadows of the infamous Note 7 fiasco. But can the Samsung Galaxy S8 really live up to the hype?

Coming on the heels of the ill-fated Note 7, the Samsung Galaxy S8 will undoubtedly be under great pressure to rebuild the brand's credibility and attract old and new consumers to their flagship smartphone line. Leaked details about the upcoming device have all been promising so far, but will it be enough to bring the Galaxy S8 to the forefront of a highly competitive mobile phone market?

According to sources, the Galaxy S8 will come in two sizes: a standard model with a 5.7-inch display and an S8+ model rumored to have a 6.2-inch screen. Both sizes are believed to feature an edge-to-edge curved display, a bezel-less design and rounded corners that are expected to maximize the screen space.

The smartphones are also rumored to come in three different colors of black sky, orchid gray and arctic silver. Although, based on the brand's previous smartphones, the line may see more colors added to its design roster in the future.

The Galaxy S8 could come with a couple of accessories to enhance the functionality of the anticipated smartphone. A new version of the Gear VR headset is expected to be released alongside the Galaxy S8 and S8+. This rumored headset could offer improved lenses to accommodate the upcoming smartphone's larger displays, while also maintaining backward compatibility with the brand's older devices, from the Galaxy S6 and onwards.

A new dock called DeX is also believed to be in the works. This will make it possible for users to extend the S8 models to a full "Galaxy Desktop" computer with an HDMI output of up to 4K and 30 frames per second (fps). The dock may also offer two USB 2.0 ports as well as an Ethernet port for flexible connectivity.

Additionally, Samsung has also just introduced its very own virtual assistant named Bixby, which will be making its debut in the upcoming Galaxy S8 with a dedicated button that will be built into the side of the said device for easy access. Bixby is expected to set itself aside from its predecessors in that it will be designed not just to answer questions but to also have context awareness in order to get things done.

The Galaxy S8 will be announced during a special event in New York on Wednesday, March 29. It is currently rumored to hit the stores on April 21.
