Samsung Galaxy S8 Specs: Camera to Boast Higher FPS Than Sony Xperia XZ Premium, 2 Front Cameras
As the release of the Samsung Galaxy S8 draws closer, more and more information about the highly anticipated flagship hits the web.
One of which involves a feature that camera enthusiasts will love. According to the Korean tech portal Naver, the Samsung handset will boast a new high-speed photography mode that allows users to capture almost 1,000 frames per second (fps).
This makes the Samsung Galaxy S8 a rival to that of the Sony Xperia XZ Premium, which boasts the Motion-Eye camera that delivers an impressive 960 fps frame rate.
The secret to the Samsung flagship's super slo-mo capture feature is the same as that of Sony — using a dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) storage connecting the image sensor and the circuit to transmit and store much quicker.
The Korea-based publication also revealed that the Samsung Galaxy S8 will come with an 8-megapixel (MP) selfie snapper, but will also have a second sensor at 3.7 MP specifically for the iris-recognition feature of the device.
In another news, a benchmark test has revealed that the version of the flagship powered by the Exynos 8895 processor delivered a better performance that the one with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor.
As revealed in the past, the Samsung Galaxy S8 will have the chipsets under the hood, the availability of which depends on the location.
The Exynos-packing Samsung Galaxy S8 topped the multicore test with a score of 6,375. The one with the Snapdragon's latest only landed third with the Huawei Mate 9 above it.
In the single-core test, the Samsung Galaxy S8 with Exynos 8895 scored 1,978 with the Snapdragon 835 version just behind it at 1,929. Both were bested by the Apple iPhone 7 Plus, which scored a whopping 3,473.
Meanwhile, a leaked poster revealed that users will be able to get their hands on the Samsung Galaxy S8 by next month. Previous reports suggest April 21 or April 28.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 will be unveiled on March 29.
