Samsung Galaxy S8 vs. Google Pixel 2 Specs: Which Flagship Is Better?

Two of the most anticipated flagships for this year are the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the Google Pixel 2. Based on the details revealed so far, these two are to look forward to.

Both handsets are expected to represent the best of what their makers are about. Samsung is especially keen on getting it right with its new offering after the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco. As for Google, the software giant is expected to continue the legacy it started with the Pixel line.

As far as the design goes, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the Google Pixel 2 will be very different. For starters, the former is revealed to be keeping the headphone jack.

The latter, however, is reportedly ditching the feature to follow Apple's footsteps. However, Forbes says Google is expected to handle this change much better than the iPhone maker did.

Both the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the Google Pixel 2 are rumored to be waterproof and dustproof so build quality will not be an issue.

As for the hardware, Samsung will put out units powered by its brand-new Exynos 8895 processor and models with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset.

Both processors promise excellent performance and power, which is why the Google Pixel 2 is expected to make use of the latter as well.

However, there are rumors that Google is looking into Intel chipsets for its flagship as well although there is not enough information about that yet.

With the random-access memory (RAM) standard now at 6 GB, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the Google Pixel 2 are imagined to boast that amount of RAM.

On the subject of imaging, the Samsung flagship is said to have a camera that will allow users to capture videos in almost 1,000 frames per second (fps).

While the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus is getting a dual camera setup, the standard version is said to get a second front camera for iris recognition purposes.

There is no word on what Google Pixel 2 has in store in this department, but Google is expected to give this feature an upgrade. The company already won fans over with the first-generation's 12.3-megapixel (MP) camera and users are counting on Google doing that for the second time.

Details about the Google Pixel 2's release date are still murky while the Samsung Galaxy S8's unveiling is already set for March 29.
