Samsung Galaxy S9 News: Geekbench Leak Indicates Massive Power
Recent reports have revealed that new leaks on the highly anticipated and upcoming Samsung Galaxy S9 have indicated several things that fans can expect from the flagship. Furthermore, rumours reveal that a few upgrades may be seen on the giant's Galaxy S9.
According to Android Headlines, the leak originates from the results of a test that was run on Geekbench, a popular platform used to determine the power and capacities of a device. Several things can be derived from the said results. First, there is no guarantee that it pertains to the Samsung Galaxy S9 because it is merely tagged under the model number SM-G965U1. Thus, fans are advised to proceed cautiously and to take the leak with a grain of salt. Second, if it were the Samsung Galaxy S9, then it seems that the tech giant has no plans on being overshadowed by Apple.
The results reveal that the Samsung SM-G965UI is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845, which is the latest in chipset technology. Furthermore, unlike the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and A8, the rumoured S9 will be operating on Android 8 or Oreo right out of the box. There is no indication as to what might the storage option be but the Gekkbench test indicates that the upcoming smartphone will have at least 6GB of RAM. The phone managed to score 2,422 points in single-core and 8,351 points on the multi-core benchmark.
Further reports reveal that the most recent rumours indicate that Samsung has made an upgrade to their iris scanner, which might mean that the South Korean giant has no plans on competing with Apple's FaceID. Regardless, thinner bezels and respectable battery life are also expected of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S9. There is no release date yet for the highly anticipated smartphone, but most believe that the company is targeting an early 2018 unveiling.
