Samsung Galaxy S9 Release Date, Spec Rumors: New Report Teases Major Redesign

If the latest report is anything to go by, the Samsung Galaxy S9 will get a major redesign.

The ever-reliable Chinese leaker Ice universe has taken to Twitter to reveal that the back of the next-generation Samsung flagship will "change a lot."

For those who do not know, Ice universe has provided accurate information on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 before its release and even provided live images of the Samsung Galaxy S8. The track record indicates that their information on the Samsung Galaxy S9 is on the nail as well.

Ice universe did not elaborate on the tweaks that will be made although it is believed that the Samsung Galaxy S9 will come with a dual camera setup like the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

It is also expected that the fingerprint sensor will also be moved if not on the front, at least in a much better position. Many users are not too happy about its current location as they tend to accidentally touch the camera when they try to unlock their Samsung Galaxy S8.

It is being said that Samsung is working on implementing technology that will allow them to put the fingerprint sensor behind the display. It is being said that this feature will be debuted in the Samsung Galaxy S9.

It is also being said that the design of the next-generation Samsung handset on the back will be a mix of aluminium and glass much like the Google Pixel 2.

Of course, the front is expected to come with the same Infinity Display that features a tall 18:9 aspect ratio and an all-screen front panel.

Ice universe also revealed in a following tweet that unlike other flagships such as its rival Apple, the Samsung Galaxy S9 will keep the 3.5-mm headphone jack.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 is rumored to be released much earlier than usual, perhaps during the first quarter of 2018.
