Samsung Galaxy S9 Release Date, Specs: Software for Flagship in the Works, Promises Unique Features

Samsung is already hard at work on its next flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S9 including the software that it will come in with.

The South Korean tech giant has recently rolled out the beta version of the all new Samsung Experience 9.0, which is built on the Android Oreo UI and UX.

The software promises to offer "increasing suite of unique services Samsung has developed for the Galaxy devices," which Slash Gear believes will make for unique features in the apps that users will likely see in full in the Samsung Galaxy S9.

Samsung Experience 9.0 will be first be available to Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 owners in the United States, United Kingdom and South Korea. Users need a Samsung account to be able to access the beta.

Samsung Galaxy S9 has been in the rumor mill for a while now. In a recent report, well-known Chinese leaker Ice universe, who has provided accurate information on the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and Samsung Galaxy S8 before they were revealed, claims that the back of the device will "change a lot."

The leakster did not detail what the changes will be although the most obvious tweak that Samsung is expected to make is upgrading to a dual camera setup, which is quickly becoming the norm in mobile flagships.

This will make the Samsung Galaxy S9 the first device in the S-series to come with the said feature, which the company debuted in the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

Another change envisioned for the device is that Samsung will move the fingerprint scanner to a more ideal location as many users are complaining about its awkward placement in its recent releases.

It is also being said that the Samsung Galaxy S9 might take a page from Google and use a mix of aluminium and glass for the device's rear for wireless charging support.
