Samsung Galaxy S9, S9 Plus Specs, Release Date: Better Fingerprint Scanner Placement, Audio Jack and More Revealed in Leaked Renders
As the excitement for the release of the Samsung Galaxy S9 duo heightens, the next-generation flagship continues to find itself at the center of leaks and reports.
In leaked renders by mobile accessories maker Ghostek, the standard version of the smartphone is shown with little changes to the design.
The Samsung Galaxy S9 will have the same tall 18:9 display, but it will be surrounded by much smaller bezels compared to the ones on its predecessor, making it one step closer to that true all-screen front panel design.
The smartphone will also solve the woes users have with the fingerprint placement on the Samsung Galaxy S8. The fingerprint scanner now sits beneath the rear camera with an ample space that will prevent users from smudging the lens when they are trying to unlock the device.
For its 2018 flagship, Samsung is not giving up on the 3.5 mm headphone jack just yet. This makes the Samsung Galaxy S9 likely one of a handful of top-of-the-line offerings that will sport such component that many manufacturers are starting to do away with. The audio jack is sandwiched between the USB-C port and the speaker.
The South Korean tech giant is making some serious changes when it comes to what features the variants of the device get. Like Apple and Google, Samsung is now bringing the premium specs to the bigger version of its flagship.
This means that the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus will be getting a dual camera setup on the back. The regular model is getting a single rear camera only, as shown in the Ghostek renders.
Both, however, are expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. Samsung already has dibs on the first batch of the chipset.
The Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus are slated for launch at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) by end of February.
