Samsung Galaxy X Specs, Release Date: New Report Hints Foldable Phone Arriving Soon
Samsung Galaxy X, the purported foldable phone from the South Korean tech giant, has just received Wi-Fi and Bluetooth certification in the country.
National Radio Research Agency (NRRA) of the Korea Communications Commission (KCC) just gave its approval to the long-rumored device, which means it should be ready for its official close-up sooner rather than later.
The listing on the website of the regulatory board also reveals that the Samsung Galaxy X will come with the model number SM-G888N0.
According to Lets Go Digital, who first reported of the foldable smartphone's visit at the KCC, the "N0" part indicates that it is a unit for the Korean market.
This means that the device will be made available in South Korea soon, but the rest of the world might not see it in the flesh or at least will have to wait a little longer for it.
Android Authority speculates that the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas might mark its debut in the west although nothing is confirmed at the moment.
With regard to the specs and features, not much is known about the Samsung Galaxy X right now except that it will have the makings of a flagship such as a high-end processor and camera. With regard to the design, previous reports suggest that the front panel will be all-bendable display.
In leaked renders that emerged back in March, it appeared that Samsung is making the phone foldable with the use of a hinge that connects two displays together.
This allows the device to completely close up with the screens in front of each other. It is said that when the handset is open, the two displays will join as one. In more recent ones, however, it is being imagined as just one chunk of display that is flexible.
It has been rumored around that time that the Samsung Galaxy X will be released during the third quarter of this year with the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 pushed back for the fourth quarter.
Of course, the phablet has already been released, which makes a holiday release for Samsung's foldable offering plausible.
