Samsung Has Upgraded Their Virtual Reality Headset
Korean company Samsung has announced that they have upgraded their Gear VR device and added new features.
The Samsung Gear VR has been upgraded and with the new generation virtual reality device, it has been added with new features. One most notable change is the inclusion of the USB Type-C port instead of the usual USB one.

The upgraded Samsung Gear VR has a USB Type-C port which makes it compatible for the USB-C compatible Samsung Galaxy Note 7, according to The Verge. However, Samsung will also include a micro USB connector for the new Gear VR to make it compatible with non-USB Type-C devices including the Galaxy Note 5, Samsung S6 and the Samsung S7.
The great thing is that the ports are connectors themselves which can be swapped out with the mini USB port or the USB Type-C port. The second USB-C port found at the bottom of the new Gear VR can also be used to transfer data and may even be used to attach other accessories including gamepads, controllers and more.
The outlet adds that the Samsung Gear VR was announced together with the Galaxy Note 7. The specs of the latter include having the same processing chip as the Samsung S7 and S7 Edge and a super AMOLED screen.
Samsung Gear VR Design, Functionality
Instead of the black and white color scheme of the first Gear VR, the 2nd-gen device is now in all black even on the inside. It has also been added with thicker padding and longer, adjustable head straps to make the VR viewing experience more comfortable, CNET adds.
Additionally, the viewing angle is now at 101 degrees from 96 degrees. This is intended to decrease tunnel vision in using the Gear VR use and make the experience more engaging than before. The Oculus Home button has been moved to the right side of the device to make the access to the Oculus home screen easier and more accessible.

Tech Crunch reports that the new upgraded Samsung Gear VR i s not the Gear VR 2.0. Instead, it is an improved version of the first one as it has only been calibrated with minor details for the customers. The Gear VR can still be bought at $100. It will be released by August 19.
