Samsung Mocks Apple With A Cheeky Commercial A Few Days After iPhone X is Released
Samsung has made it to the headlines again as they have released a controversial advertisement that so blatantly mocked the recently released Apple iPhone X. The new commercial targets the subpar features of Apple's new flagship, and concludes its attack with a cheeky line.
Samsung's commercial traced the beginnings of the iPhone and compared it to the development of the Galaxy lineup. As such, it fundamentally illustrated the war between the tech giants, with Samsung poking fun at Apple's previous determination to keep the storage at 16GB. Another feature that was highlighted was Samsung's groundbreaking technology, which introduced the stylus as a new way of interacting with the screen, whereas Apple remained the same.
Moving to more recent matters, Samsung's commercial also emphasized the Galaxy lineups waterproof feature by quite literally dumping both in a pool. Whereas the Samsung smartphone survived the ordeal unscathed, the iPhone was tossed to a bowl of rice, presumably to dry it out. Furthermore, Samsung did not forget to mention the lack of a headphone jack, with the iPhone user in the commercial comically using a dongle, whereas the Samsung user had her phone resting on a wireless charger.
Titled "Growing Up," the commercial ends with Erik, the iPhone user, tossing his iPhone X into a drawer, after which he is shown to be looking at a sleek new Samsung Galaxy Note 8 box. He uses the stylus to write the commercial's tagline, which is: "guess what I got?" Eril, who is now a Samsung user, is shown to be immensely satisfied. Finally, the commercial ends with a cheeky tagline that definitely incited a lot of hype and attention from the fans of both smartphones: "Upgrade to Galaxy."
Considering that Apple just recently released their iPhone X, some fans reacted by saying that this might be the manifestation of Samsung's fear. On the other hand, some found it to be hilarious and a brilliant marketing strategy from the Android giant.
