'Samurai Jack' Season 5 Release Date, News: New Season Premieres on March 11
A grittier "Samurai Jack" returns for its fifth season. The first episode, titled "XCII," will head the premiere of the new season on Saturday, March 11, at 11:00 p.m. EST on Adult Swim.
After a long wait, fans of "Samurai Jack" will once again see their favorite swordsman in focused combat with the forces of Aku. Only this time a lot of things look different, with a decisive change in tone from the last seasons of the hit cartoon series.
It has been fifty years since the events of season 4, and the decades have not been kind to the noble warrior. His constant travel through time seems to have stopped his aging, although the Jack that can be seen in the season 5 trailer is a far cry from the previous samurai, as noted by IGN.

Jack, who once was a serene warrior in white garb and wielding an impeccably kept blade, is now an unkempt, scowling bearded resistance fighter who fights with guns. He has put on black armor as well, and far from his efficient, methodical sword fighting way from the previous season, he now wields whatever fits the situation — machineguns, tridents, pistols and even explosives.
The Samurai Jack in the trailer is a haunted man, and even when alone he is constantly tormented by his past and grasping for a reason to fight on. Even then he is perpetually on the move, being chased by assassins and monsters, always in search of a way to get back to the past.
The fifth season of "Samurai Jack" will be the final one for the series, and the show's director, Genndy Tartakovsky, is putting a different tone to the conclusion of one of the best animated series produced for Cartoon Network, according to The Verge.
