'Sandman' movie cast news: Tom Hiddleston joins cast as Morpheus
New details about Warner Bro.'s upcoming movie adaptation of "Sandman" confirmed that the film will push through, despite many challenges.
The lead of the movie, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, explained that the Neil Gaiman comics will indeed have its adaptation soon. He did mention that the material is under several reworks. However, it will still maintain the main message of Sandman. Gordon-Levitt also teased that the film is expected to impress fans visually.
He will be joined by the creator Gaiman, director David S. Goyer, and writer Jack Throne for the upcoming film. According to Movie News Guide, it was revealed that there will be a new addition to the cast for the character of Morpheus, the Lord of Dreams. It was reported that Tom Hiddleston, who plays Loki in the Marvel franchise, will be playing the role.
Gordon-Levitt, who will also act as a producer, admitted that the process in developing the graphic novel "Dreams of the Endless" has been complicated, so far. The story features a web of fantasy and world literature that will make it difficult for Gordon-Levitt to produce. The fact that the novel was developed in less than a decade with merely 24-page issues is also proving to be a main factor on why it is taking a while to finish writing the movie adaptation.

Gordon-Levitt said, "If you did the episodic version, I think it could very well end up as a not-as-good-version of what is already brilliant in the comics. But by reworking the material into a big movie, Gaiman's brilliant characters and ideas get to take shape in a way they never have before. Also, I think Sandman deserves to look absolutely mind-blowingly awesome, just on a visual level, and as cinematic as some TV shows are becoming these days, they still can't compete with big movies visually, just because they can't afford to."
