Sarah Jessica Parker Back on HBO With New Series 'Divorce'
Actress Sarah Jessica Parker, star of the iconic HBO series "Sex and the City," is returning to the network that made her a major star. HBO welcomes Parker back as the star of an upcoming series simply entitled "Divorce."
The new series will also be a comedy and will star Parker as Frances, a woman who is desperately trying to start anew after the end of her marriage. Her soon-to-be ex-husband will be played by Thomas Haden Church and in her personal journey, she will be surrounded two friends, the "uptight one" to be played by Molly Shannon and one called "Dallas" to be played by Talia Balsam. According to a report in "It was an area of particular interest for me because I'm married, and I love being married, and I'm happily married," she said. Parker has been married to actor Matthew Broderick since 1997. In addition, she said that she wanted to create "a portrait of divorce" which stems from her belief that marriage and divorce means different things for different people. "I think marriage is wonderfully complicated and wonderfully interesting, and everybody conducts their marriage differently. We know almost nothing about people's marriage, because even those who we're most intimate with in friendships, we don't always share the good or the bad. And I just think that at a certain point, some people feel alone and lost," she said. The story of divorce, she also said, was something most people may be able to relate to, as some of them may have experienced it already, or are about to experience it. Sharon Horgan is penning the new show. The series will start production in New York later in the year.Get Our Latest News for FREE
