'Scandal' Season 5 Episode 10 Spoilers: What Will Happen After Olivia and Fitz Breakup?

The American television series "Scandal" is currently on hiatus after airing their mid-season finale episode. And as expected, the last episode before winter break left a cliffhanger. According to Design & Trend, season 5 episode 9 of the show ended with Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) breaking up with President Fitzgerald Thomas Grant III (Tony Goldwyn).

The episode, titled "Baby, It's Cold Outside," revealed how Olivia felt that she was no longer capable of handling the pressure of being a First Lady. So, she decided to part ways with Fitz. But the biggest move that she made was the decision to have her baby with the president aborted. This decision is still unknown to the president but fans are expecting that it's going to be a real game-changer in the show when it returns next year.

As noted in Yibada, the next episode of "Scandal" is most likely to pick up from the aftermath of the controversial couple's breakup. The official synopsis isn't out yet but speculations say that Olivia and Fitz may not be entirely over yet.

Actor Goldwyn said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that there may still be hope for them since the characters really love each other. "I think there's hope. I think Fitz and Olivia really love each other. I may be alone at this point in thinking that, I don't know (Laughs.) But I do, and I think when people love each other as primally as these two people do, I think they can come back from anything," said Goldwyn.

But it may not be as easy as it has always been since it's still not known what Fitz's reaction will be if he finds out about the abortion. Considering he just lost his son, he is expected to be devastated. However, perhaps his "irrational love" for her will help him cope up with it.

"Scandal" season 5 episode 10 will return on Feb. 11, 2016 on ABC.
