'Scandal' Season 5 Episode 19 Spoilers: Abby Goes Up Against Liv

In a bid to have their candidates nab the seat of the country's highest office, fans will get to see Abby and Olivia going up against each other when ABC's hit political drama TV series "Scandal" Season 5 returns this week with a brand new episode.

Spoiler alerts for those who missed "Till Death Do Us Part," the show took a break from the intense presidential campaign drama to put the spotlight on Jake and his issues with Olivia and Rowan, as well as his marriage to Vanessa. Liv sprang up to action when she heard from Papa Pope that he has moved up Jake and Vanessa's wedding. The ever-coy Liv got Jake into confessing that he really doesn't love the woman and that he and Rowan has some reason laced behind the civil union. Rowan intervened and threatened Jake with his life if he didn't stick to the plan. In the end, it was Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Ballard.

In the upcoming episode titled "Buckle Up," the promo video teases a Gladiator versus Gladiator showdown between Olivia and Abby. As heard from the clip's voiceover, the two colleagues are "locked up in a death match" that gets to determine whose side will win in the race to occupy the White House.

Sally Langston can also be heard saying, "May the best woman win." She could be referring to the candidates Mellie Fitz and Susan Ross, but the intensity of the competition puts more focus on Abby and Liv going up against each other.

The full synopsis of the segment was shared over at The Futon Critic and it reads:

"As Mellie, Susan and Hollis prepare to meet with Florida's governor and vie for her influential endorsement, a spin war between Abby and Olivia threatens to keep their candidates grounded. Meanwhile, Cyrus is faced with a decision that could dramatically alter his future."

"Scandal" Season 5 airs Thursdays, at 9 on ABC.
