The midseason finale of "Scandal" season 5 saw Olivia, played by Kerry Washington, walking away from her longtime love Fitz, played by Tony Goldwyn. After breaking up with the president, fans are wondering just how things are going to go for Olivia Pope in the episodes to come.
Titled "It's Hard Out Here for a General," the midseason premiere is expected to see Olivia go on with her life after she made her big decision. There are speculations that Olivia could be seeing a new love affair when the series returns next month.

The finale showed Jack Ballard, played by Scott Foley, returning to the series. The actor recently spoke with TV Line about the possibility of the two getting back together.
He stated, "I think where Jake found out that Olivia was the one who let Rowan out [of prison]… he had been very patient. He said, 'You choose Fitz, you love him,' and she didn't say, 'No, I want to choose you.' He had tried to be the good friend throughout her ridiculous ponderings and questions about 'Should I marry Fitz?,' but once he found out that she let Rowan out and Rowan then killed his wife, I think he was done."
While Foley cleared up any signs of the two getting back together, fans are still hoping that Olivia and Fitz will reconcile and continue their romance. Fans have been waiting a long time to see the couple finally happy together, after Fitz had broken up with his wife. However, the twist came when Fitz and Olivia saw a rough patch and broke up as well.
Goldwyn recently shared how he felt about Fitz and Olivia's split to the Hollywood Reporter. He stated, "I think there's hope. I think Fitz and Olivia really love each other."
"Scandal" season 5 is expected to air on ABC this Feb. 11.
