'Scandal' Season 5 Spoilers: President Fitz Locks Horns with Olivia Over Rowan's Escape
Audiences anticipating the coming episode of "Scandal" will witness President Fitz confronting Olivia over Rowan's supposed escape.
With Olivia's (Kerry Washington) Black Ops father, Rowan Pope (Joe Morton) having "absconded" in Episode 7 of "Scandal" entitled "Even the Devil Deserves a Second Chance," Episode 8 titled "Rasputin" will have President Fitz Grant (Tony Goldwyn) confronting her about the betrayal.
With Fitz all focused on winning back the love of his constituents, Olivia is harboring her own secrets, even with Mellie Grant (Bellamy Young) threatening the intrepid crisis manager she would be telling on her about their collaboration to get Rowan released from prison.
A teaser for the coming episode shows Mellie warning Olivia of her intentions to inform on her. In another scene, Olivia is shown saying, "When I tell him, we're done. I'm not ready to be done."
However, Fitz will be facing Olivia in "Rasputin," seeming to be pleading with her to convince him she didn't have anything to do with her father's escape. Another scene will also show Jake Ballard (Scott Foley) damning Olivia over her heinous decision to release her mass murderer father. Ballard will likewise attempt to get Olivia to be upfront about her actions to President Fitz.
Oliva will come face to face with Rowan, who tells her she should be afraid of the whole situation, as he is too, despite all the things he has been accused of doing.
Meanwhile, Chief of Staff Elizabeth North (Portia de Rossi) will be returning to the White House, perhaps because of having positively vetted President Fitz when she was interviewed by Sally Langston on her show, to everyone's great surprise.
However, Cyrus Beene (Jeff Perry) will be heatedly protesting Elizabeth getting her job back and audiences can expect him to go the backyard route in an attempt to get rid of his enemy.
The episode's synopsis says that with President Fitz occupied with negotiating a momentous peace deal, Olivia will find herself in a crisis of her own after a White House guest reveals secret intel. It also says Beene will connive to get rid of Elizabeth after her reinstatement loses him a place in the powerful inner circle.
"Scandal" Season 5, Episode 8 will air on ABC on Thursday at 9 p.m. ET.
