Scarlett Johansson Wrist Tattoo Revealed, Star Talks 'Avengers' Film

Scarlett Johansson's wrist tattoo is in tribute to New York City, where she has been promoting her newest movie "The Avengers," set to come out in May.

Scarlett Johansson's wrist tattoo reads "I [heart] NY" on a bracelet-like chain painted around her right wrist. The "I Love NY" mantra is common in the Big Apple, and the charm bracelet tattoo certainly isn't the actress's first experience with ink.

ScarJo's wrist tattoo was first spotted at the Los Angeles premiere of "The Avengers" earlier this month by Us Weekly. She has several other designs etched into her, like a sun over the sea on her forearm and two circles together linked by the letter "A."

While the meaning behind her most recent tattoo is fairly obvious, the others are a mystery, as the 27-year-old likes the significance of them to "remain private," according to Daily Mail.

Besides her new ink, Johansson is also attracting attention for her reprisal of the role of Black Widow, a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent helping out superheroes like Iron Man, Hulk, and Thor against Loki and his horde of evil minions.

ScarJo revealed that although she is "bendy and fierce" in the film, the training required to fit in Black Widow's outfit- a constricting, nearly skintight catsuit- was grueling.

"Every woman has body worries, and I'm not exempt from that. But part of the by-product of spending that much time in the gym is that you can fit into a catsuit," she said in an interview with U.K. show "TV Daybreak."

The Hollywood actress also revealed that she doesn't want to abandon the character now that "The Avengers" movie is over. Johansson has played the character in "Iron Man 2" as well, and even though she didn't reveal whether she is present in "Iron Man 3," she does want to continue being Black Widow.

"I personally think there's an awesome Black Widow movie in there," she told Screen Rant. "A kind of 'Bourne' film that would take the whole comic book genre in a completely different direction. It'd be awesome."

She added that she is in talks with Marvel and Kevin Feige about a possible storyline for a film.

Johansson stars alongside Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Evans (Captain America), and Tom Hiddleston (Loki) in "The Avengers."
