'Scorpion' Season 2 Spoilers, Plot News: New Homeland Security Director Reunites the Team to Stop Space Accident

The network CBS dropped some major spoilers for the upcoming second season of its hit action drama TV series "Scorpion" during its panel at the Television Critics Association summer press tour earlier this week.

According to the network, the season 2 premiere of the show will find the new director of Homeland Security, Adriana Molina (guest star Alana De La Garza) reuniting the team to address a global incident involving a nuclear powered Russian satellite getting knocked out of its orbit.

The team will race against time as they strive to divert the man-made satellite back to its path before it detonates over Southern California.

Earlier casting reports described the newcomer as a "smart, tough, driven" leader of the organization. TV Line said that her goal is really for the Scorpion team to be successful in their endeavors. However, it remains to be seen if her intentions are really for the best of the techy group or for herself.

The promo description from CBS went on to point out the romantic story arc between Paige (Katharine McPhee) and Walter (Elyes Gabel). As revealed by the network, both Paige and Walter "must face their feelings for each other when hospital footage reveals that Paige kissed him."

Meanwhile, executive producer Nicholas Wootton told the media outlet back in April that the forthcoming installment of the series will tackle more on arced storylines rather than the "adventure of the week" segments.

"I think what we may have going into next season is more arcs. We'll be able to look at an entire template and we'll be able to plan those things out a little bit more than we did this year, because we really only had the first thirteen planned, and then we moved on once we knew that was coming up," Wootton said.

"Scorpion" Season 2 premieres Monday, Sept. 21 at 9 p.m. on CBS.
