Meanwhile, Scotland are fourth but are only one point behind the Republic of Ireland for the play-off spot in the group.

Germany recently faced Poland in a clash for the top spot of the cluster.

Before their meeting, Poland held a one-point lead over the European powerhouse.

However, in their meeting, Germany pulled a 3-1 victory after Thomas Muller and Mario Gotze scored for the Germans as they met at Frankfurt.

That win handed Poland their first loss of the competition and dropped them to second place, while Germany are now on top of the table.

With only a handful of matches remaining, Germany are now looking to win the remaining games to win the group and holding off their rivals.

On the other hand, Scotland recently lost 1-0 to Georgia.

That defeat resulted in them dropping out of the top three spots and now risk missing out of the competition entirely.

Their defeat paired with Ireland's victory over Gibraltar resulted in the two switching places but are only separated by one point.

For Scotland, they will need to win this big match against the Germans to put pressure on Ireland who are still scheduled to meet Germany in the future.

In their earlier meeting in the competition, Germany won 2-1 behind Muller's brace. Ikechi Anya scored for Scotland but it wasn't enough as the Germans were triumphant at Signal-Iduna-Park.
