'Scream Queens' Season 3 Canceled or Renewed: Is Emma Roberts Too Busy?
Fox has yet to reveal the fate of "Scream Queens," but things are not looking so great for the Ryan Murphy horror-comedy series. Emma Roberts, who plays Chanel Oberlin, has apparently moved on to focusing on other projects.
Rumors of the show getting axed have been running rampant ever since its second season concluded. It can be recalled that "Scream Queens" did not achieve stellar ratings when it was on air and the story itself was also criticized.
However, Fox executive Steve Madden said in January that the show is still "very much in consideration for a renewal" despite its ratings, pointing out that "ratings don't tell the whole story." Delayed viewing numbers were good, and Madden said that a decision will likely be made closer to May.
But even if it does end up getting renewed, will its stars have time to film it? It has been said that Roberts is quite busy with other commitments. She apparently has at least four projects on her work schedule, including "Billionaire Boys Club" and "Four Seasons." The actress also shared via her Instagram account recently that she dyed her hair for a new movie.
Chanel has always been associated with blonde hair. And while Roberts can wear a wig to play the character or even dye her hair back, it has been pointed out that her schedule may be too demanding to accommodate "Scream Queens." Murphy has also been busy with other projects like "Feud" and "American Crime Story," especially with three concepts already in the works for the latter. But it is exactly because of Murphy's long-standing relationship with the network that a renewal may still be possible.
Fans of "Scream Queens" are undoubtedly keeping their fingers crossed for a third season. After all, season 2 closed with Chanel in danger as the Red Devil Killer resurfaced. Does she make it out alive?
Right now, nothing can be determined, so readers are advised to take this news with a grain of salt.
