Second 'Star Wars' Spinoff Will Be About Boba Fett and Bounty Hunters
The second "Star Wars" spinoff film, which is part of the "Anthology" series of films recently suffered a major setback when it lost its director Josh Trank, leaving Disney and Lucasfilm in a frantic search for a replacement.
Interestingly, a new set of rumors started circulating about what the film will be about. If the first spinoff film "Rogue One" will be about a group of resistance fighters in a time when there were no Jedis and no Force to speak of, the second spinoff film will reportedly be about another sector in the Star Wars universe -- the bounty hunters.
According to a report in The Wrap, the next spinoff movie which is slated for a 2018 release will be about one of the most notorious bounty hunters, Boba Fett. In previous "Star Wars" films, he was known for working with the likes of Jabba the Hutt, for whom he caught Hans Solo and eventually, for the Empire under Darth Vader. Like any other bounty hunter, his services are for hire to the one who is willing to pay.
In the "Star Wars" universe, Boba Fett is a Mandalorian warrior who was trained by Jango Fett. He is actually a genetic clone of Jango Fett, who at one time was the best bounty hunter in the galaxy, who specialized in unarmed combat. He figured prominently in two "Star Wars" films -- "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi." The character was played by English actor Jeremy Bulloch in these two films.
The film will supposedly be an origin story of the character and his family, while at the same time explore the world of bounty hunters and their role in the galaxy where Stars Wars is situated.
Simon Kinberg is a writer-producer that is reported to be heavily involved in the film's development, which is set in a separate "movie universe" than that of the main "Star Wars" films.
