'Secrets and Lies' Season 2: Andrea to Be Under Pressure to Jail Right Suspect in New Case

"Secrets and Lies" season 2 will highlight the pressure on Detective Andrea Cornell to put the right suspect in prison in her new case after she committed a grave error in season 1.

Detective Andrea Cornell (Juliette Lewis) will tackle a new case involving Eric Warner (Michael Ealy), who will be accused of killing his wife, Kate (Jordana Brewster), by pushing her from the 12th floor of a building. Because she mistakenly put a man in jail in her previous case, Andrea will be pressured to catch the real murderer when "Secrets and Lies" comes back for season 2, according to TV Guide.

"It wouldn't bode well for our show if every season our star detective did not get the murderer," executive producer Barbie Kligman said of Andrea during the Television Critics Association winter previews. "She is a very good detective and she will find justice."

The new season will bring about new characters and a new story, Kligman added. However, Lewis will be the only returning cast for season 2.

In the previous season, Andrea knew that Ben Crawford's (Ryan Phillippe) daughter, Abby (Belle Shouse), was the real culprit in Tom's death but she was unable to prove it. Unfortunately, Ben never got his chance at freedom because he died behind bars, the International Business Times reports.

Meanwhile, the lead detective will have to adjust to a new environment. Plus, Andrea will deal with a family that is more adept at avoiding her investigative tactics, the report details.

In an interview, Lewis revealed that she is excited to experience the corporate setting of the story. She is also looking forward to her character's display of her spying prowess in dealing with the Warners, a very rich and powerful family in North Carolina.

"Secrets and Lies" season 2 will air sometime this year on ABC, but the exact premiere date is still unconfirmed. More details about the upcoming season are expected to be revealed soon.
