Selena Gomez and Boyfriend The Weeknd News: Are They Still Together?

Justin Bieber and ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez have been spotted hanging out together in Los Angeles. Does this mean Gomez and Abel Tesfaye a.k.a. The Weeknd are over?

Apparently not. Bieber and Gomez have reportedly stayed in touch since the former heard of the latter's major surgery. And on Sunday afternoon, the pair met up along with mutual friends at a get-together at Gomez's house in L.A.

More importantly, The Weeknd has been understanding about the former couple's situation.

A source told E! News that Bieber heard through mutual friends that Gomez was to undergo a kidney transplant, which is imperative for her battle against lupus. Since then Bieber reached out to his ex, and have maintained a friendly relationship since.

The informant also told E! that Gomez is not trying to rekindle an old flame. "She is trying to not overdo it with seeing him, as she doesn't want to upset Abel," the source added.

Another source said that Bieber and Gomez are not flirty around each other. They act like old-time friends. Gomez is, according to the informant, happy and in love with the "Starboy" singer. And she has been honest and open about her ex.

Gomez received a kidney from a friend, actress Francia Raisa, over the summer. She only revealed the news in September.

The pop singer will delve into her ongoing battle with lupus in an exclusive interview with Savannah Guthrie. It will air on NBC's "Today" on Monday and Tuesday and on "Nightly News" on Monday night.

"I guess I got to the point where it was really kind of life or death," Gomez can be heard saying in the preview. "My kidneys were just done. That was it and I didn't want to ask a single person in my life. She volunteered and did it."

Gomez first revealed her lupus diagnosis in an interview with Billboard in 2015.
