Selena Gomez Lupus News: Singer-Actress To Release Documentary About Her Battle With The Auto-Immune Disease
Selena Gomez wants to shed light about her health battles in a new documentary that will focus on her lupus struggles.
A source told InTouch Weekly that the singer-actress is ready to share her battles against the chronic inflammatory disease that led her to go through a kidney transplant. "She's making a documentary about her health issues," the source stated. "Selena will talk about her journey, give viewers insight into lupus and clear up any misunderstandings."
Gomez was also reportedly doing a lot better now after having the kidney transplant where her friend best friend Francia Raisa donated her own organ for her. According to the source, the 25-year-old pop star's outlook in life changed after she underwent the transplant.
The source also mentioned that the "Hands to Myself" singer wants her upcoming documentary to inspire other people who are also battling the same disease.
Raisa, on the other hand, seemed to have confirmed that she and Gomez will share their story soon through one of her Instagram posts.
Gomez first admitted that she was diagnosed with the auto-immune disease in 2015 in an interview with Billboard, which led her to take time off from work to deal with the symptoms that come with the ailment. In an interview with CNN back in 2016, she learned that some of the side effects of her disease include panic attacks, anxiety, and depression. This made her decide to focus on her health and become more proactive that is why she chose to take a rest during that time.
Details about the upcoming documentary that Gomez is currently developing are still under wraps, but the film is expected to be released anytime soon.
At the moment, Gomez is involved in several films like "Hotel Transylvania 3" as well as an untitled Woody Allen project that is both scheduled for release in 2018.
