Sequel for 'Last of Us' accidentally confirmed?

When it comes to announcing upcoming games, creators and developers are very careful not to divulge too much details until the right time. But it seems like that's not the case for the sequel of the game "Last of Us" as reports say that it might have been accidentally confirmed by the writer during a livestream interview of Naughty Dog for the game "Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection."

According to Destructoid, writer Josh Scherr spoke the phrase "the first 'The Last of Us,'" which made him realize that he had said something that he wasn't probably supposed to say. He went back to the thought to change it up saying:

"Uh, did I say the first 'The Last Of Us'? The first 'Last Of Us.' 'The Last Of Us.' 'The first Last Of Us.' 'The Last of Us' was also key frame animation."

His slip of tongue moment made the lead animator Eric Baldwin let out a little laugh while community strategist Eric Monacelli quickly changed the topic. But even though he awkwardly tried to correct what he just said, it was already interpreted by fans as an accidental confirmation of a part two of the action-adventure survival horror game.

Rumors about the sequel of the game have been around for some time already. Even the comments from actor Nolan North suggest that the folks at Naughty Dog are working on it. But unless the members of the team behind the game gives a thumbs-up confirmation, then "Last of Us 2" is not going to happen anytime soon. And at this point, even with Scherr's accidental touch of the subject, things are still vague to conclude that there is a follow-up.

Metro UK noted that perhaps Scherr was just nervous and didn't intend to mean an actual sequel. But if "The Last of Us 2" is indeed in the making, it will still be unlikely that it will be released this year as Naughty Dog is still gearing up for their big release of "Uncharted 4" in March 2016.
