At the moment, the Serie A champions lead the group with seven points, while City are not far behind with six.

Sevilla are three points behind, while the German club are at the bottom with only one point.

Only two teams move on in the competition after the group stages so City and Sevilla are currently battling for the second seed in the table - making this upcoming meeting all the more important.

Sevilla have only won one UEFA Champions League match so far, their campaign opener against Borussia Monchengladbach where they won 3-0.

Following that, they lost to Juventus 2-0 at Turin and lost to City at the Etihad Stadium 2-1.

Now they are trying to turn things around as they play host to one of English Premier League's best teams.

For City, they did not start the way they wanted to in the competition with a loss to Juventus at home, but they responded perfectly with back-to-back wins over Borussia Monchengladbach and Sevilla to sit in second place.

Another win over Sevilla will go a long way in securing them a spot in the knockout stages of the competition.

In their earlier meeting, Sevilla actually got the first goal and took control of the match in the 30th minute with Evgeni Konoplyanka scoring the match's opener.

However, Adil Rami hit an own goal six minutes later to put City level on points.

It seemed that the match was destined for a draw when Kevin De Bruyne put on a dazzling performance in the closing stages of the match, scoring a goal in the first minute of injury time to hand the victory over to City.

Now Sevilla will try to avenge that loss with a win at home.
