'Sex and the City 3' Coming to Big Screen? Sarah Jessica Parker Drops Hints
Sarah Jessica Parker has dropped hints that she may be returning as Carrie Bradshaw in a third "Sex and the City" movie. The rumors have inspired mixed reactions from fans, who would love to see the original characters return but wonder if it would be worth it for a third time.
"I've been saying … there is one story left to tell," Parker told "Extra." "If it is, in fact, the right time and the right place, maybe we should tell it. It would be wonderful. It's fun to ponder."
The first "SATC" movie was a blockbuster, with millions of fans lining up the night it was released and continuing to make it a profit. Fans were thrilled to see the four characters, played by Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis, Kim Cattrall, and Parker, on the big screen after six years on HBO.
The second film paled in comparison and only made about half of what the original did. While Parker has expressed great interest in writing and producing the third film, her co-stars have not expressed the same sentiment.
"I don't see 'Sex and the City 3' happening," Chris Noth told Parade magazine. "I'm not disappointed if they don't. I miss the early days before it became sort of a circus of attention, when it hadn't become this iconic thing."
Noth has found success on CBS' hit series "The Good Wife," which was recently renewed for a fifth season.
"I feel like I've let go," Cattrall told MovieWeb.com. "Whatever happens with those characters ... I would love to revisit them. It's like a reunion. It's like going home. Thirteen years of your life? That is a long time to be associated with one show and one character. One family. If it happens, that would be great. But if not? It was an amazing experience."
"I think we had a wonderful ride," Nixon told The Hollywood Reporter. "I think it's fine to let it go."
"Of course a 3rd movie would be great for her… what else has she got going on?" New York Daily News reader Rickgster asked.
